DAVEY LYON
PASTOR
Davey was born on July 28 th , 1982 to Dave and Janice Lyon, and is native to Lowndes County, AL.
He was raised in a Christian home where he regularly attended Benton Baptist Church and made a
profession of faith at a young age. He attended Auburn University and graduated in 2006 with a
Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering. In 2004, Davey became convicted that he merely had a “form of
religion” but had never truly repented of his sin and trusted in Jesus Christ as Lord of his life. It was
then, by God’s grace, that he sincerely repented and trusted in Jesus for the forgiveness of his sins
and eternal life. Upon graduation, he worked as a Civil Engineer in Montgomery and soon began
teaching Sunday School and Bible Studies at Hayneville Christian Church. In 2010, Davey married
the love of his life, Amber Lyon. In 2017, God called Davey to the pastorate and Hayneville
Christian Church called him as pastor. In 2020, Davey stepped away from pastoring to pursue a
Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. During the summer of 2020,
God began to lay on his heart a desire to plant a multicultural church, Imago Dei Church at the 45,
in Lowndes County, AL. In July of 2021, Davey stepped away from a 15-year career in Civil
Engineering to be fully dedicated to God’s call on his life to plant Imago Dei Church, pursue
seminary, and work part-time at the Montgomery Baptist Association as the Lowndes County Church
Planting Strategist. Davey’s consuming desire is to be used by God to see people come to know
and grow in Christ in Lowndes County and to the nations. He and Amber are the proud parents of
three children: David, Sawyer and Grace.

The one supreme authority for the church is Christ. Church leadership, gifts, order, discipline and worship are all appointed through His sovereignty as found in the Scriptures. In the ministry of the church, both men and women are encouraged to serve Christ and to be developed to their full potential in the manifold ministries of the people of God. The biblically designated officers serving under Christ and leading the assembly are a group of men called Pastors (also called bishops and elders) who must meet biblical qualifications. These leaders lead as servants of Christ and have His authority in leading the church. The congregation is to submit to their leadership, unless led into sin or false doctrine. The distinctive leadership role within the church given to qualified men is grounded in creation, fall and redemption and must not be sidelined by appeals to cultural developments.
